Pre-political Life

Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for the Korle Klottey constituency, is the first of four children of former first couple of Ghana, the late Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings and Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings. She was born on 1st June 1978 and had her basic education at North Ridge Lyceum and Achimota Primary School. She later proceeded to Wesley Girls High School in Cape Coast, graduating in 1996. Driven by a passion for medicine, she pursued her education at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), earning LRCP & SI, MB, BCh. and BAO (NUI) in 2003. Her ten years of experience in General Practice and Family Medicine prior to her parliamentary career reflect her unwavering commitment to healthcare and community well-being.

Parliamentary Work

Currently in her second term as an Honourable Member of Parliament representing the Klottey-Korle Constituency, Ghana, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings is a dedicated advocate for inclusivity and empowerment, with a strong focus on women and youth. She serves as the Deputy Ranking Member on the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior and is an active member of the Business Committee.
As a member of various international organisations, including the Climate Parliament, African Parliamentary Union, and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings has represented Ghana at numerous international events. • Recognising the importance of early education, she successfully solicited support for the construction of a kindergarten at the Ringway Basic School, providing a conducive learning environment for young children.
• Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings has also prioritised the health of her constituents, offering free health screenings regularly to thousands of individuals. This proactive approach to healthcare ensures that her community members have access to essential medical services.
• Her efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility extend to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). Since 2016, she has tirelessly worked to register over 10,000 constituents, ensuring that they have access to vital healthcare services.
• Emphasizing environmental sustainability and the well-being of market vendors, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings has overseen the construction of state-of-the-art, environment, and health-friendly smokeless ovens in the Osu market. This initiative not only improves the working conditions for vendors but also contributes to a cleaner and healthier environment.
• To foster youth development and community engagement, she organizes sports competitions within her constituency. These competitions not only promote physical well-being but also encourage the spirit of camaraderie and teamwork among the youth.
