International Disability Day Celebration 50 Meters Wheelchair Challenge for Kids Overview It was an honour being invited to participate in the International Disability Day Celebration 50 Meters Wheelchair Challenge for Kids. The way a society treats its vulnerable mirrors our humanity. People living with disabilities (PWDs) are an integral part of our fabric and must be factored into our development agenda. We cannot continue treating the wellbeing PWDs as an afterthought. Let’s be guided by the spirit of togetherness as the world commemorates International Day of People with Disability.

Breast Cancer Awareness
Breast Cancer Awareness Overview The breast screening exercise on Saturday was very successful. We had 200 walk-ins, including a breast cancer survivor who shared her story to encourage and inspire others to check their breasts regularly. Thanks to the medical team for their pivotal role and the team of volunteers who helped to maintain COVID protocols and an orderly system during the exercise.

Screening for the It Is Possible Project Overview Today, we held the final one-on-one screening to select the top 100 applicants for the #ItIsPossibleProject – an Agric Capacity Building Roadshow and training programme we launched about a month ago. As mentioned earlier, the #ItIsPossibleProject aims to build the capacity of the youth, women and the physically challenged in mushroom growing, rabbit and snail rearing across various districts and regions. Planted the first seed for Future of Design Ghana’s Bioswale Demonstration Unit Overview Last week, I planted the first seed for Future of Design Ghana’s bioswale demonstration unit at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park. I am particularly excited about the different levels of this project, taking the concept of climate change, breaking it down into tangible attainable goals, and developing specific projects that involve and engage the youth to design and maintain systems such as the bioswales for flood mitigation. For the demonstration, I planted the Amankwatia rice which is expected to grow to approximately 1.3m tall in 120-125 days. […]
